Ekelund

Welcome to the worlds oldest weaver family:

Ekelund is a Swedish family business with textile ancestry from the 15th century and as a company since 1692. The Ekelund family has for 18 generations offered artisanal textiles. Their timeless designs, inspired by the Scandinavian nature and pattern treasure will make you want to come home. All production takes place in their own factory in Horred on the Swedish west coast 60 km southeast of Gothenburg: About 30 employees manage the entire production chain in the company, from design to finished product, from import of yarns to weaving, preparing and making up. Ekelund´s patented rainbow technique, also called pixel weaving, revolutionized weaving art and is used for many of their designs. High-quality natural materials, mainly organic linen from northern France and Belgium and organic cotton, providing lasting value and contributing to a sustainable approach - this is Ekelund. It was one of the world's first textile companies to be eco-labelled back in 1995 (Good Environmental Choice). Since then, environmental thinking has kept up with everything they have done. Production is carried out in a resource-saving manner and since 2016, the company is certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).
